When I was growing up I never knew what I wanted to be, I always loved playing with makeup and beauty but I considered it to be a hobby. I felt when I was at school there was an expectation to take a certain career path. I have learnt that if you are truly passionate about something, you will be naturally good at it.
Once I finished High School I took a year off and lived in Canada. It was that year that made me realize how passionate I was about makeup and beauty and that I wanted to pursue it as a career. After returning from Canada I did a Diploma in Makeup Artistry – this course taught me a lot about makeup and ignited my passion for makeup and beauty even more. With makeup, I do believe it is a skill you never stop learning. To this day I still learn new skills by talking to a wide variety of people from different networks, I also love to spend a couple of hours doing my own makeup trialing different techniques.
I have worked in the beauty industry for 5 years working for 2 successful beauty brands, Elizabeth Arden and Estee Lauder. Working for these brands I have learnt a wealth of knowledge and skills – working on counter talking to clients and applying makeup to the customers wishes has widen my horizons to be able to work with a wide variety of clients.
It is over these 5 years working in the industry that my passion for makeup has grown. I love working with clients and using my skills to enhance their natural beauty and make them feel confident within themselves. I now have my own studio where I work from home and I am also mobile for all things makeup, lash and brows.
In particular it is a real privilege to be working with clients on their wedding day – one of the most significant days of their lives. I love working with brides to create a look that is both suited to their personality while enhancing their natural features.
This is a part of my job that gives me great joy and why I have pursued a career in this Industry.
